| THE SONGS FROM THE COURTSHIP OF PRINCESS GWEN
My good friend, David
Carr, did the following "English Music Hall" piano arrangements of "THE
RED-BACKED, SCALY, BLACK-BELLIED, TUSK-ED, BAT-WINGED, DRAGON," "OWEN'S
DRINKING SONG" and "THE LOVE SONG FROM LONG-GRIN." David played the
piano and another friend, Philip St. John Moores was the recording engineer
for the session. Philip's father, opera and symphony conducter Michael
Moores, dropped by to see how his son was getting along and I immediately
drafted him to sing along with the rest of us. My fellow vocalists,
shouters and screamers were David Carr, Michael Moores, Lonnie Snyder,
Julie Long and Mary Moyers. My youngest brother, Adam Pike, rescued
an old demo cassette of that session and put it onto a CD for me, It's a bit hissy,
but music to my ears.
In the most recent revision, "OWEN'S DRINKING SONG" made the cut, but "THE RED-BACKED, SCALY, BLACK-BELLIED, TUSK-ED, BAT-WINGED DRAGON" and "THE LOVE SONG FROM LONG-GRIN" did not. It is unlikely that they will be revived, so clicking on their links below may be the only way you'll ever hear them.
